The Aboriginal Evangelical Fellowship (AEF) is exactly what the name says, an indigenous-run evangelical fellowship that has been supporting churches and developing First Nation leaders for over 50 years.
It has never had money to spare. In their own words, AEF supports “seven experienced Chaplains or couples with a little each week to engage with people who need their support across Australia. That support takes on many forms.Occasionally it’s with food or practical items. Sometimes by being the one to advocate for people in crisis. Often to visit; this can be at their homes, hospitals, aged care centres, and more.”
The AEF family and youth Services chaplains are based in Perth, Bunbury, Eden, Port Stephens, and Cummeragunja but are called upon to serve people from across the continent.
Bible Society will double donations to make the first $10,000 into $20,000. That AEF has launched their appeal with this target indicates what a lean organisation it is.
Indigenous pastors Neville and Lorraine Naden from Dubbo are quoted in the AEF magazine “we appreciate the partnership with the folk who support the AEF/FYS Community Chaplaincy work. This help is so valuable. Thank you.”
