Khim and Eugenie Harris are exchanging living on the WA coastal town of Geraldton, which is not mentioned in Scripture for the Biblically resonant city of Jerusalem.
Khim has served as Registrar of the Anglican Diocese of North West Australia, where Eugenie has served in communications.
They are joining the team at the Church’s Ministry among Jewish people (CMJ) in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, which is based at the Anglican Christ Church Jerusalem.
CMJ operates a guest house, café, courtyard and prayer garden, welcoming visitors from everywhere which Khim and Eugenie will run, and look after the volunteers there.
An earlier visit gave the Harris’ their new vision: “We loved the vibrant compound which is home to many worship communities – Messianic Jews, Arab Christians and international believers – all gathered in fellowship in Christ. This visible unity in a divided city is itself a testimony.
“Many visitors comment on the peace within the compound. That atmosphere does not happen by accident. It flows from faithful, steady Christian service. Our task will be simple but important: to serve humbly, strengthen others in their faith, and contribute to a disciplined and prayerful community life.”
CMJ also runs the Mercy Fund, which serves those in need. Requests for food and medicine for vulnerable families have increased significantly in the areas we serve, particularly in Bethlehem – another Biblically resonant location.
“Many people are struggling, not only with immediate needs but also with the complex process of accessing government assistance. Our Mercy Fund team often walks alongside them through this process, helping them navigate the system while offering practical support.”
Khim and Eugenie are planning to host a CMJ tour to Israel, called the Tabernacles Tour from 12 to 27 October 2027, marking Jesus’ journey to Jerusalem for the Feast of Tabernacles. “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.” (John 7:37)
At Christ Church Guest House, Khim and Eugenie will provide for the thirsty.
