Out to get us? Not always: Do some Christians need to feel persecuted? There’s an meme on Facebook – old enough to have been written up by Snopes as false – that posting the Lord’s Prayer is banned on Facebook. It’s not. But testing it by posting the prayer might be the appropriate reaction rather than passing on the meme. Facebook could do with prayers.

Reborn: Obadiah loves it when reading of an old church repurposed as a church. Pictured below is Hope Chapel in Gawler, a historic town north of Adelaide. It started life as the Gawler Presbyterian church in 1858 according to the folk at “Adelaide now and then.” It was sold in 1967 when the Congregationalists and Presbyterians united earlier than most. The building became a restaurant and was also “the Abbey” Adult disco.

But now it is once again a church, home to Hope Chapel, a member of the charismatic Crosslinks network. What’s not to like!

Praying with tech: many readers will be used to slido.com – a site that makes meetings interactive, often used too run a quiz. Obadiah has seen that often enough to be used to it. But at a prayer meeting at St Obadiah’s this week slide was used to have people give their name and a friend/relative/co-worker whom they are planning to invite to Alpha. It was impressive to see how many names came through to be prayed for. Obadiah is sure the idea is not copyright if you know what he means …

Seems I am Chinese: Obadiah in a spare moment did a “which denomination are you?” online quiz. He thought some of the questions were weird, and longed for a “none of the above option”. Turns out the quiz thought Obadiah was closest to China’s patriotic three Self Movement – the official protestant Churches of china. Oh, very well, go on and call me a Commie.
