Passing through Melbourne’s Box Hill, changing from a bus to a train, I took a short break and while seeking out a coffee shop, I passed a group of people singing in one of the Chinese languages. I was handed a tract which gave a simple gospel outline, and I noted it came from Every Home for Christ, Singapore.
Every Home for Christ is a Christian group that I already had in the back of my mind as an acquaintance, Greg Bondar, became the Executive Director of the Australian branch last year.
They call themselves a “global network of local Christ carriers,” working with local churches to promote evangelism.
It’s an ambitious group – ambitious you might say for the Gospel, with a very bold aim “We envisioned what it would take to reach every person on earth with the love of Jesus by the end of 2038.”
That target is probably their American roots showing, along with their focus on data.
But Bondar shared with me the just released global stats for 2024 which are impressive.
• Partnering churches 37,795
• Volunteers 635,200
• Trained 2,500,000
• House to House 136,669,926
• Gospel Presentations 246,713,461
• Potential people reached 594,400,430
• Christ Groups 34,637
• Bibles Distributed 6,217,560
Working through local churches rather than doing their own thing – and distributing Bibles has a solid, old tech feeling. Just like the simple accapella singing in the Box Hill plaza and the paper tract i got
A testimony from Ana, in Biera, Mozambique revolves around a tract. “Later that evening, as I sat alone, I remembered the tract. I read the words slowly: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). That verse struck me deeply. For the first time in my life, I saw words that perfectly described how I felt—weary, burdened, and tired of fighting alone. The tract explained how Jesus offers peace, joy, and salvation to those who come to him. I was intrigued but still skeptical. How could words on a small piece of paper have such a strong effect on me? That night, as I lay in bed, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.”
And then a local church. “A few days later, a friend of mine invited me to an event at her church. She had asked me before, but I always found an excuse not to go. This time, however, I felt something urging me to accept. I remembered the tract and thought, “Maybe I should see for myself.” She did and she accepted Christ.
“After I gave my life to Christ, I couldn’t shake the thought of the person who had handed me the tract. That small piece of paper had been the catalyst for everything that had changed in me. I remembered that the woman had a kind smile, and I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude towards her. I had to find her and share my story.
“It was not an easy task. Beira is large and filled with many people. Weeks passed, and one Sunday, I was sitting outside my church when I saw a familiar face. It was the same woman who had handed me the tract!
“’Excuse me,’ I said, almost breathless. ‘Do you remember me? That message changed my life.’
“The woman smiled warmly. ‘I remember you,’ she said. ‘I’m so happy to hear what God has done in your life! That’s the power of his Word. It never returns empty.'”
Every Home For Christ Australia is a registered charity with tax deductible status for its overseas aid fund. Its financials show it is small and lean. And it is keen.
