From Leading the Way
We Stand in Prayer for Sydney After the Bondi Beach Attack
Gracious and merciful God, our hearts are heavy as we lift Sydney before You. We grieve for the lives lost in this act of violence. We mourn with those who mourn, and we weep with those who weep.
We pray for families and loved ones whose world has been shattered.
Draw near to them now, O Lord. Surround them with Your comfort and peace when the pain feels unbearable.
Lord, we ask for healing for the wounded. We ask for strength in their bodies, restoration where there is injury, and courage for the long recovery ahead. Grant wisdom, clarity, and compassion to doctors, nurses, and caregivers.
Lord Jesus, we plead for Your peace to prevail in Sydney and throughout the world. Only Your transforming grace can cleanse hearts poisoned by hate. We cry out for the Gospel to break the chains of fear, vengeance, and violence. Strengthen your churches in Australia to rise as a beacon of Gospel Truth.
We lift up ministries like the kingdom Sat and pray that You would use them mightily to reach Muslims across the globe, including in Australia, with the message of Christ. Use every broadcast, every testimony, and every act of mercy to turn hearts to You.
May Sydney not be gripped by fear, but by a renewed awareness of eternal things. We entrust this city to You, Sovereign Lord. In Jesus’ Name. AMEN.
From the Australian Christian Lobby
We grieve the lives lost in the Bondi attack and pray for those who have been injured, traumatised, and forever changed. We lift the families of the victims before God, asking for comfort, strength, and peace in the midst of unimaginable loss. We also thank the first responders and bystanders who acted with courage and selflessness to protect others.
With authorities confirming antisemitism as the motive, we stand with the Jewish community. We pray for Jewish Australians who are hurting or fearful tonight, and we reject antisemitism in all its forms. We pray that peace would overcome hatred, and that light would not be extinguished by darkness.
We ask God to be close to the broken-hearted, to bring healing where there is trauma and injury, and to bring peace to our nation.
