The Health Ministry in Gaza is claiming 35,091 people have been killed in the territory during more than seven months of war between Israel and Hamas as of May 13. The Health Ministry is run by Hamas, which is listed as a terrorist group by the Western government, and its figures have been challenged as being statistically inconsistent by pro-Israel experts. The UN recently confirmed the total but has lowered their figures for women and children killed who have been fully identified
Israeli estimates of the Gaza dead have not been widely released until this week. In a Jerusalem Post article by reporter Yonah Jeremy Bob, the civilian death toll estimated by Israel is 16,000 to 20,000. Together with 14,000 Hamas fighters, that is within a few thousand of the Hamas claim.
These figures were backed up by a surprising source. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cited 14,000 Hamas fighters killed and 16,000 civilians on the Call Me Back podcast.
Israel’s losses include the 1200 Israelis killed by Hamas on October 7, 242 taken hostage. And 600 soldiers since.
