Martyn Iles, former Managing Director of the Australian Christian Lobby, is moving to Cincinnati in the US alongside fellow Australian Ken Ham in running Answers in Genesis, a large creationist ministry.
“I am delighted to announce that I have been appointed to a leadership role at Answers in Genesis (AiG) as Chief Ministry Officer,” Iles writes on his Facebook page.
“AiG is a US$140 million Christian apologetics and education ministry, also known for owning the famous Ark Encounter and Creation Museum which attract 1.5 million visitors each year.
“I will be aiding in the overall leadership of the ministry with the CEO, Ken Ham, who is a fellow Australian (indeed, a Queenslander!).”
“My role is to continue to advance and adapt the ministry to an emerging generation and a changing culture. I will produce a lot of content, speak at live events all over the world, write books, design education programs, and more.
“Also, I will lead the Australian office of the ministry and make sure Australia doesn’t miss out!
“AiG has a workforce of up to 1,200 so that, so we can do it all!”
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics ministry that stands for “young earth” creationist beliefs, including a literal six-day creation. Answers in Genesis sees its purpose as evangelism, believing that creationism is a key to converting people to Christianity.
Ken Ham began his ministry in Queensland in 1979 after working as a high school teacher in Brisbane, determined to counter his students’ scepticism about creation. He moved to the United States in 1987 to lecture for a creationist group. He formed a new own organisation in 1994, which is now called Answers in Genesis.
Answers in Genesis is famous for its replica ark, located at Ark Encounter, a theme park in Grant County, Kentucky. The Noah’s Ark is at full-scale and is 160m long.

Martin was growing in stature in Australia and many saw him as a future Billy Graham. Australia has no-one with a high profile that draws attention to the gospel, Martin was gaining traction. He will be sorely missed
